Harry Ang's bachata style is a unique fusion of sensuality, sharpness, and speed. As a dance instructor, choreographer, and DJ, he is a prominent figure in Kuala Lumpur's bachata scene and is dedicated to promoting its popularity in Malaysia.
Having competed in the Latin Ballroom circuit, Harry discovered his love for bachata almost 15 years ago. Winning the Malaysia Bachata Champion in 2010 and the Asia Bachata Champion in 2011 solidified his passion for the dance. He was particularly drawn to the bachata sensual style popularized by Korke and Judith and Alma Latina, inspiring him to share this style with a wider audience.
As a DJ, Harry has honed his craft, working alongside DJ Gary and creating his signature mixes that encompass Sensual, Moderna, Remix, Urbana, and Tipica. He started Sensual Wednesdays Social in 2018, and it continued to thrive until 2020. Harry revived the social in 2022 and has been holding it at popular locations across Kuala Lumpur.
Harry believes that consistent practice and drawing inspiration from bachata with good connection and preparation are vital for new dancers. He also emphasizes the importance of mutual respect between leaders and followers, providing ample space for self-expression.
